Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Opens Session of Global Understanding
Rabegh, Saudi Arabia, May 11, SPA--On behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the Governor of Makkah Region, opened the 27th session of Global Understanding Council at King Abdullah Economic City here today.
Upon arrival at the venue, the Prince was received by Organizing
Chairman of the Session and Associate Member Abdulaziz Al-Quraishi,
the Governor of Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA)
Amr bin Abdullah Al-Dabbagh, and a number of officials.
A speech ceremony was held on this occasion.
In his speech, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal pointed out that the meeting
is being held today on a land of a project which is one of the King's
initiatives launched from time to time to serve the people of this
country and all mankind, pointing in this regard to King Abdullah
Economic City and King Abdullah University for Science and
Technology.
The Prince added that the King has worked hard to upgrade
this country and its citizens to the world level, indicating that the
start is always through the local launch.
In another speech, Sweden's former Prime Minister and the Council's
Assistant President Ingvar Carlsson expressed the Council's thanks to
the King for his approval to host and patronize the meetings of the
Council.
On his part, Germany's Former Chancellor and the Council's Honorary
President Helmut Schmidt described Saudi Arabia as an important
country, one of the most important Islamic countries, and one of few
moderate countries in the region.
He demanded the Council to invite Saudi Arabia for attending
global economic summits, welcoming its invitation to Washington and
London.
Addressing the session, Canada's former Premier and the Council's
Associate President Jean Cretin thanked Saudi Arabia for hosting the
Council's meetings, wishing that the recommendations of the session
will contribute to achieving peace and stability in the world.
In his speech, SAGIA's Governor stressed that Saudi Arabia has always
been keen to promote peace, security and stability in the world,
noting that one of the most prominent example is the Kingdom's oil
policy for decades, characterized by constant keenness and
fundamental principled attitude towards balancing between the
interests of consumers and producers to ensure the growth of the
global economy in the service of humanity as a whole.
For his part, Advisor at the Royal Court Dr. Abdulrahman
Al-Said welcomed the attendees, wishing them a good stay in Saudi
Arabia.
