Labour Minister congratulates BCCI on winning ILO board membership

Manama, June 18 (BNA): Labour and Social Development Minister, Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, has congratulated the Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), Sameer Abdulla Nass, on the election of BCCI board member, businesswoman Sonia Mohammed Janahi as member of the Board of Directors of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
Janahi was elected unanimously as an alternate member at ILO Board of Directors, for the “Business Owners’ Group” category, representing West Asian countries for a three-year term, 2021-2024.
Humaidan asserted that the representation of Bahraini business persons in ILO board reflects the confidence of the international organisations and the International Community in Bahraini competencies in various fields.
He also commended the fruitful efforts of BCCI, and its support for its members, particularly female ones, who, he said, have proved their ability to represent business owners well-deservedly.
The minister said that the exploit adds to Bahraini women’s innumerable achievements at all levels, thanks to the comprehensive development march spearheaded by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and implemented by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The international achievement is also one of the fruitful outcomes of the tremendous efforts exerted by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, to advance Bahraini women, he added, noting that Sonia Janahi’s wide-ranging experiences and effective participation in international gatherings have earned her the confidence of West Asian business owners.
