More than 20,000 ha of irrigated paddyfields harvested in Vientiane Capital
(KPL) Farmers in various districts of Vientiane Capital have harvested over 20,000 ha of irrigated paddyfields, 91.4 per cent of the total target, and the remaining 1,000 ha is expected to be harvested by the end of May.
In addition, farmers in some area of the districts of Sikhottabong, Nasaythong and Pak Ngum have begun growing rice for the rainy season.
According to the a report from the Vientiane Capital’s agriculture and forestry service, the dry season rice production reached the target of 4.3 tons per ha on average.
The report also said nearly 200 ha of the dry rice cultivation in Nasaythong district was damaged by insects.
