Seoul shares begin lower on correction woes
SEOUL, May 12 (Yonhap) -- South Korean stocks started lower Tuesday as investors were worried that recent sharp gains could inevitably lead to a market correction, analysts said.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) lost 4.22 points, or 0.30
percent, to 1,332.6 in the first 15 minutes of trading.
Financial shares led the falls as lingering concerns over the U.S. banking sector
weighed them down.
The South Korean currency was trading at 1,249.75 won to the U.S. dollar as of
9:15 a.m., down 11.85 won from Monday's close.
