Bahrain ranks high in World Giving Index 2021

Manama, June 26 (BNA): HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has lauded the unwavering interest of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Honorary President of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), in charitable and humanitarian work.
HH Shaikh Nasser also praised the constant support of the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the RHF, hailing the contributions of the Bahraini people to charitable and humanitarian work.
HH Shaikh Nasser made the statements marking the release of the World Giving Index 2021 by the London-based Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), which ranked the kingdom the first in the Arab world and 12th globally, noting that the milestone was achieved in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the RHF, established to achieve the royal vision for creating a secure society in which everybody enjoys well-being, security and safety.
HH Shaikh Nasser asserted that the landmark achievement reflects HM the King’s care for widows and orphans, as well as the efforts of the RHF’s keenness to deliver relief and humanitarian assistance in Bahrain and abroad, including donations and development projects, such as hospitals and schools, in addition to food and medicines for stricken peoples and migrants all over the world.
HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the massive participation in the “Feena Khair” national campaign by the citizens, companies, banks, associations and residents has contributed to the RHF’s success, and entitled the kingdom to be ranked among top countries in the Giving Index for this year.
The global honour also reflects the Bahraini society’s noble values of giving, solidarity and cohesion, which has enabled it to overcome many challenges, HH Shaikh Nasser added.
RHF Secretary-General, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, indicated that Bahrain has been ranked among top countries in the World Giving Index 2021 thanks to the support of HM the King and HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister to charitable work, HH Shaikh Nasser's leadership of the RHF, the generosity of the Bahraini people and the efforts of the RHF’s staff.
He asserted that Bahrain was ranked first Arab country and 12th globally in the overall World Giving Index 2021 is the fruitful outcome of the culture of giving and helping others instilled by HM King Hamad among the members of the Bahraini society.
He added that the Index had ranked Bahrain as the 12th most generous country in the world, with a score of 45%, noting that CAF’s report said that 64% of Bahraini people had helped strangers, 51% donated money to charity organisations and needy individuals, and 19% spent some of their time in volunteering work.
Dr. Al-Sayed affirmed that Bahrain has always embraced the humanitarian work and helping others culture through its keenness to support the needy under various circumstances, adding that following HH Shaikh Nasser’s directives, and based on Bahrain’s deep-rooted culture, the RHF has promoted the humanitarian work culture through preparing a book aimed at instilling that culture in the minds of youngsters.
Approved by Al-Azhar Al-Shariff in Egypt, the book will be included in the school curricular in Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan and Egypt and is expected to be taught for secondary students in the near future, he said.
Al-Sayed pointed out that the RHF seeks to achieve HM the King’s visions through many modern administrative theories, such as the CREAMOC (Creativity, Motivation and Organisational Culture) and MOSIF (Mission, Objective, Strategy, Implementation and Feedback) administrative theories, in addition to the Women and Youth Development Pyramid, through which the RHF-sponsored families are transformed from needy families to productive ones that contribute to the support and development of society.
