Works Minister receives UN-Habitat delegation

Manama, June 29 (BNA): Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Issam bin Abdullah Khalaf received a delegation from the UN Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) Regional Office for Arab States, led by its Director Dr. Erfan Ali. The meeting discussed a number of projects of common interest, and ways to intensify and strengthen aspects of bilateral cooperation and coordination, and to enhance efforts to develop cities and villages in Bahrain. The minister praised the existing constructive cooperation that exists between Bahrain and UN Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat), that resulted in developing many cities and caring for heritage and historical sites, stressing that the Kingdom pays special attention to the principle of sustainable development as one of the most important pillars of comprehensive development in Bahrain. Dr.Erfan praised the remarkable progress witnessed by the Kingdom in terms of urban development, stressing the program's keenness to continue cooperating with the ministry in various programs and fields in order to achieve the goals of sustainable development and prosperity for mankind.
