Al-Raya Affirms Importance of Qatar-US Strategic Partnership for Security, Peace of World

Doha, July 04 (QNA) - Al-Raya affirmed Sunday that the Qatari-US relations have developed from a stage of cooperation to a pivotal strategic partnership for maintaining international peace and security. In its editorial, the paper said that the files of Qatari-US cooperation range from combating terrorism and reducing escalation in conflict areas to confronting the crises of climate change and its catastrophic repercussions on the security of peoples, so that it remains an indispensable strategic partnership for world security. The paper affirmed that the permanent communication and consultation between Doha and Washington reflects the importance of the roles played by the two parties to reduce the escalation of tensions, extinguish the fires of conflicts and mediation to curb conflicts whose end depends on the desire and will of its parties. In this regard, Al-Raya referred to press statement of HE Charge d'Affaires at US Embassy in Qatar John Desrocher, who stressed the importance of this partnership by saying that the United States sees Qatar as a strategic partner in many issues related to international peace and security, citing the latest Qatari-US consultation and coordination when HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met with American counterpart Antony Blinken in Rome a few days ago, as the two sides discussed regional security and the international support for humanitarian efforts in Gaza. The Qatari mediation efforts are appreciated by Washington, especially in the Afghan file, the paper said, noting that Doha's role did not stop in the Arab region and the Middle East, because it is a cross-border role aimed at establishing peace and development for all peoples. The Qatari and US sides are aware of the interconnectedness of today's world and that the illness of one of its members affects, in one way or another, the rest of the international community as a whole, and therefore, Desrocher emphasized the United States' praise for Qatari leadership and mediation to promote peace and reconciliation in the region and beyond, the paper added. In conclusion, Al-Raya affirmed that the Qatari-US partnership remains an effective, diversified, and indispensable strategic partnership in many issues, and ultimately aspires to strengthening international peace and security for the benefit of all peoples.
