Al-Sharq, Al-Watan Affirm Qatar's Supportive Stance for Lebanon's Stability

Doha, July 07 (QNA) - Al-Sharq and Al-Watan newspapers affirmed in their editorials Wednesday Qatar's supportive stance for Lebanon and its brotherly people to get out of the current crisis, noting that HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met Tuesday with HE President of the Republic of Lebanon General Michel Aoun and HE Prime Minister-designate of the Republic of Lebanon Saad Al Hariri. The two papers stressed the importance of the Foreign Minister's visit, which is particularly important in light of the current situation in Lebanon, given that Qatar has played many humanitarian roles in Lebanon. For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said in its editorial that HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs' visit is important in terms of timing, as it comes in light of a severe political and economic crisis in which the suffering has reached the limits of tragedy, as Caretaker Prime Minister of the Lebanese Republic Dr. Hassan Diab described the situation in Lebanon as a major disaster whose repercussions extend beyond any capacity of containment, calling on brothers and friends to stand with the Lebanese in light of the crisis that the country is going through in all respects. The newspaper pointed out that the visit comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's constant endeavors to help resolve the political crisis in Lebanon, and its firm commitment to support the Republic of Lebanon and stand by the brotherly Lebanese people, in addition to its firm belief in the importance and necessity of the joint Arab action. Al-Sharq noted Qatar's commitment to support the brotherly Lebanese people, whether by providing aid and material support, or by contributing to efforts aimed at pushing all Lebanese parties towards giving priority to the national interest, and expediting the formation of a new government in order to establish stability in Lebanon. The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed to all Lebanese leaders Qatar's supportive position to Lebanon and its brotherly people to overcome the current crisis, calling on all Lebanese parties to prioritize the national interest in order to expedite the formation of a new government to face the crises and challenges facing Lebanon. In its editorial, Al-Watan newspaper said that HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani's visit to Lebanon came within the framework of the strong brotherly relations that have always brought the two countries and peoples together, and within the framework of continuous mutual visits to enhance bilateral and strong relations. The newspaper said that the visit, in light of the current conditions in Lebanon, is of particular importance, given that Qatar has played many humanitarian roles in Lebanon since the first day, which was evident in the two previous visits of His Excellency, and Doha's reception of many Lebanese officials in recent months, including Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri, as well as caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab. The newspaper added that the Qatari support for Lebanon was translated shortly after Beirut Port explosion, when Doha pledged to rebuild a number of schools, hospitals and housing units that were partially or completely destroyed or damaged by the bombing, which is added to the humanitarian, food, medical and educational aid that Doha provides to the Lebanese on a regular basis since the "July War" and before and after it, noting that this was clearly reflected in the famous slogan that the Lebanese still repeat: "Thanks Qatar." Al-Watan continued to say that Qatar has repeatedly affirmed its continuous support for Lebanon and its permanent standing by the Lebanese people, and called on all Lebanese parties to give priority to the national interest and to expedite the formation of a new government in order to establish stability in Lebanon, and to overcome the current critical stage that has left many negative repercussions on the lives of all Lebanese. The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar, as HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs has stated more than once, is keen to complete international efforts to form the Lebanese government, pointing out that Qatar deeply believes that the formation of this government is an internal Lebanese affair, and it has good relations with all concerned parties, and is always ready to facilitate any dialogues to help building a government in Lebanon.
