Qatar Rail, Qatar Post Announce Doha Metro Project Postage Stamps

Doha, July 07 (QNA) - Qatar Rail, in cooperation with the Qatar Postal Services Company (Qatar Post), announced the issuance of a set of postage stamps documenting the Doha Metro project during an inauguration ceremony held on Wednesday in the presence of a number of representatives of the two companies. This edition includes a set of four postage stamps in one voucher, as well as a day one envelope and two post cards. About 10,000 copies and 1,200 volumes were printed of the Doha Metro stamps, designed under the title of sustainable transport infrastructure with international standards, which combines the authenticity of the Qatari identity, modernity and technological superiority, as this version carried images of the metro and the upper stations of the Doha Metro network. Chief of Strategy and Business Development Division at Qatar Rail Ajlan Eid Al Enazi said that the Doha Metro project is considered one of the most important infrastructure projects in the transport sector in the country and is one of the most prominent transport projects in the world and that through cooperation with Qatar Post, a set of special edition postage stamps was launched to document this important national achievement. He added that they made sure the stamps bear the images of the metro train, especially because the Doha Metro won a number of international awards in the field of design. This postal version also includes pictures of the upper stations, which are also distinguished by their architectural design, which has become a prominent landmark of the city of Doha, he noted. For his part, Acting Director of Qatar Postal Services Company Mohammed Jaber Al Nuaimi said that they are very happy to launch this new edition of the Doha Metro postage stamps, which is the latest among their many publications that document the most prominent achievements, projects, events, and major events hosted by the State of Qatar. Al Nuaimi said that Qatar Post are proud to cooperate with Qatar Rail and believe that it is their national duty to immortalize this great achievement in the form of a postage stamp that will be passed on to future generations.
