Al-Sharq Highlights Role of Qatar in Strengthening International, Regional Cooperation Against COVID-19

Doha, July 10 (QNA) - In its editorial on Saturday, Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted the leading role of the State of Qatar in strengthening international and regional cooperation to confront the Coronavirus pandemic and its consequences, adding that the State of Qatar believes in the importance of the global effort to confront the pandemic, which poses a global threat. The newspaper said that in the midst of the pandemic, the leading role of the State of Qatar in strengthening international and regional cooperation becomes prominent. In this context, the newspaper pointed out that the State of Qatar has provided aid to more than 80 countries, as well as support to the World Health Organization, the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi) and many other international organizations and programs such as the COVAX program, which aims to provide the vaccine in a fair and equal manner to more than 92 countries in need of official development assistance by the end of this year. The newspaper also noted that in implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, two cargo planes belonging to the Qatari Amiri Air Force arrived in the Republic of Tunisia carrying medical aid in support from the State of Qatar to the efforts of Tunisia in containing the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The aid included a field hospital with a 200-bed capacity fully-equipped in terms of medical supplies, in addition to 100 ventilators, the newspaper explained. It stressed that this support for Tunisia comes in the framework of the State of Qatar's policy of enhancing international solidarity and cooperation to face the Coronavirus pandemic, and its policy of enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Tunisia. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that Qatar remained ready to provide assistance to every country witnessing outbreaks, adding that perhaps the most prominent role played by Qatar was providing support to India during the last wave, as Doha became the most important global logistics transport center for the delivery of international support to India.
