Cabinet agrees on further loan to SDF

SANA'A, May 12 (Saba)- In its meeting held on Tuesday, cabinet
approved the treaty of additional loan to Social Development Fund's
(SDF) third phase.

The treaty, signed on February 3, 2009 between the government of
Yemen and OPEC Fund for International Development, worth $ 18
million.

The cabinet directed concerned ministers to follow up completing
constitutional measures required for approving the treaty. The total
cost of the project's phase is estimated a $ 400 million supplied by
the government and a number of international donor bodies.

Social Development Fund's general aims are active participation in
achieving the country's plan in social and economic field to enable
individuals and families, especially poor and of lower income as
well as small institutions to have work via providing them with
services, facilitations and loans.

The fund also aims at alleviating poverty, creating new work
opportunities as well as developing local societies and improving
people living conditions via providing them with basic services such
as education, health and other service projects.
