PRESIDENT YUDHOYONO EXPECTED IN MANADO
Manado, May 13 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is scheduled to make a three-day working visit to Manado, North Sulawesi from May 13 to 15, 2009.
According to an official statement from the Presidential Palace, the president and his entourage would depart from Halim Perdanakusuma airport at 10.35 local time on Wednesday morning for Manado to open the World Ocean Conference (WOC).
Traveling in a Boeing 737-500 special aircraft, the president and his entourage would arrive at Manado's Sam Ratulangi International Airport at 3 p.m. Central Indonesia Time.
After being greeted by North Sulawesi Governor SH Sarudajang at Sam Ratulangi airport, the head of state would head to the Grand Kawanua Convention Center (GKCC), a 15-minute drive from the airport.
At the GKCC, President Yudhoyono in the company of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Freddy Numberi would inspect the preparations for the WOC and Coral Triangle Initiative (CTI) Summit.
In the second day of his visit on Thursday, the president would open the World Ocean Conference at 9 a.m. local time at the GKCC Grand Ballroom-3.
Yudhoyono would ceremonially mark the start of the WOC by playing a few notes on the Tetengkoren, a traditional North Sulawesi musical instrument, and also sign a special series of WOC-2009 stamps.
On the occasion, the president would be accompanied by Coordinating Minister for the People's Welfare Aburizal Bakries, Communication and Information Minister Muhammad Nuh, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Freddy Numberi, and North Sulawesi Governor SH Sarundajang.
After opening the WOC, President Yudhoyono would hold a bipartite meeting with the Papua New Guniean prime minister and then visit a marine-related exhibition at the Sulut Expo in the Kayu Watu area.
Then at 7.45 p.m. on Thursday, the president and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono would host a banquet for the foreign heads of state/government participating in the CTI.
On the final day of his visit on Friday, the president would open the CTI Summit at 8 a.m. local time before returning to Jakarta at 2.40 in the afternoon.***
