Al-Watan Appreciates Qatar Charity's Initiatives, Support to Various Countries

Doha, July 15 (QNA) - In its editorial on Thursday, Al-Watan newspaper praised Qatar Charity's initiatives, which contribute to spreading goodness and assistance to various countries of the world and addressing the most important humanitarian and development challenges faced by poor and needy peoples, especially its generous support for the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The newspaper noted the launch of Qatar Charity's annual report for the year 2020, in the presence of its Chairman, HE Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al-Thani, and Arab and international figures represented by IOM Director General Antonio Vitorino and the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Somali Republic Doran Farah..
The newspaper drew attention to what His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Nasser Al-Thani said that the year 2020 witnessed the continuation of the largest humanitarian crises of the 21st century, namely the Syrian and Yemeni humanitarian crises, while challenges are still present, especially the Coronavirus pandemic, in addition to the catastrophic effects of climate change, the exacerbation of humanitarian needs, the increase in poverty, the loss of many lives and the deprivation of education in many regions around the world.
Al-Watan newspaper said that the total revenues of Qatar Charity from donations during 2020 exceeded $500 million, 90% of which came from the generosity of individual donors internationally and from the Qatari community, making it one of the most trusted non-governmental organizations among individual donors worldwide, adding that the total number of beneficiaries of Qatar Charity's projects amounted to 14 million beneficiaries, and 54 million people around the world benefited from development projects over the past five years, at a total cost of $1.6 billion.
In conclusion, Al-Watan referred to what the Director General of the International Organization for Migration Antonio Vitorino said that the organization has received continuous support from Qatar Charity in several countries such as Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Bosnia and Herzegovina, praising Qatar Charity's generous support to the organization.
