Al-Watan Affirms Qatar's Commitment to Supporting LDCs

Doha, July 17 (QNA) - Al-Watan newspaper affirmed the State of Qatar's commitment to supporting the least developed countries in implementing an ambitious, comprehensive and forward-looking program of work that centers on people, supports human dignity, and achieves Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
The newspaper noted the statements of HE Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, during the virtual event on the sidelines of the 2021 High-level Political Forum (HLPF), under the theme 'Building back better to realize the SDGs in LDCs: Accelerating action to achieve inclusive, sustainable, resilient recovery - approaches on the road to the LDC5.' HE said that the least developed countries are our battleground to eradicate extreme poverty, reduce inequality, fight hunger and achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
She explained that the Qatar, as the host country of the upcoming 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, in which a new program of work for the decade 2021-2030 will be adopted, is looking forward to providing an ideal opportunity to stimulate transformation measures to overcome the challenges faced by the least developed and landlocked developing countries by 2030.
The newspaper pointed out that with the approach of the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Doha, there is justification for optimism, as Qatar affirmed to support the least developed countries in implementing an ambitious, comprehensive and forward-looking program of work that centers on people, supports human dignity, and achieves sustainable development goals.
Al-Watan concluded its editorial by emphasizing that Qatar will continue to work vigorously to achieve these ambitions and work to put in place an enhanced framework to support the least developed countries and landlocked developing countries. (QNA)
