Al-Raya, Al-Sharq Highlight Qatar's Contributions to Efforts to Establish Regional, Global Peace

Doha, July 17 (QNA) - In their editorials on Saturday, Al-Raya and Al-Sharq highlighted the State of Qatar's contributions to efforts to establish regional and global peace through mediation diplomacy and working to resolve conflicts peacefully. Al-Raya newspaper said that the State of Qatar has always believed in diplomacy and constructive and direct dialogue between the parties to the conflict as an effective means of resolving crises, noting the State of Qatar's affirmation of its commitment to continue supporting the peace process by the Afghans, in order to consolidate the gains made on the course of the Doha negotiations in cooperation with international partners. It noted that Qatar pledged to continue its efforts to bring the views and positions between the government of Afghanistan and Taliban closer by adopting the method of constructive dialogue, adding that Doha has always stood beside the Afghan people in order to reach a solution that would end this bitter conflict and make Afghanistan a place of security and peace. Doha has devoted itself as an effective and guaranteed partner in supporting the efforts made to ensure that peace, security and prosperity prevail everywhere, especially in the Asian region, the newspaper pointed out, adding that Doha has made good efforts in the field of mediation to settle disputes and conflicts by peaceful means. It explained that Qatar always stresses that the lessons and experiences of history have proven that military force cannot resolve any conflict in Afghanistan, and that the only way to lift Afghanistan out of its crises is an immediate and permanent ceasefire and open avenues of constructive dialogue to achieve a comprehensive political settlement between all segments of the Afghan society. The newspaper stressed that Qatar will spare no effort in cooperating with the international community to achieve the desired goals of these negotiations and the aspirations of the Afghan people for security, stability and peace. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by emphasizing that Qatari diplomacy has made Doha a destination for those seeking security and stability in the world, noting that Qatar has established its name as an honest and reliable international mediator; from this standpoint, Doha has conducted, over the years, rounds of negotiations between conflicting parties in various issues, without exerting any pressure on the different parties. Therefore, Dohas hosting of the Afghan peace negotiations, makes it the capital of world peace. For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said that from Afghanistan to Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, the Horn of Africa, and others, the State of Qatar plays a leading and important role in contributing to efforts to establish regional and global peace through mediation diplomacy and working to resolve conflicts peacefully. It added that during the past few years, Qatar's efforts succeeded in reaching a historic agreement between the United States and Taliban to bring peace to Afghanistan, which is an achievement that paved the way for the launch of the Afghan peace talks in Doha last September. Qatar is still continuing its efforts in cooperation with international partners, including the United Nations to facilitate a comprehensive peace agreement that restores peace and stability in Afghanistan, the newspaper stated. Al-Sharq pointed out that Doha is hosting a high-level Afghan government delegation that includes 10 prominent politicians led by the Chairman of the High Council for National Reconciliation Abdullah Abdullah, and includes former President Hamid Karzai, Minister of State for Peace Affairs Syed Sadat Naderi, former Vice President Karim Khalili, Jamiat-i-Islami key leader Atta Mohammad Noor and chief negotiators Masoom Stanekzai, Salam Rahimi and Fatima Gailani, in an effort to achieve a breakthrough in negotiations with Taliban, leading to a comprehensive and just peace agreement that meets the aspirations of the Afghan people and ensures stability in Afghanistan. The newspaper stressed that maintaining regional and international peace and security is a priority in the State of Qatar's foreign policy, and its principles and objectives are based on the United Nations Charter and the rules of international legitimacy, which call for constructive cooperation between states, mutual respect, promoting peaceful coexistence, and the adoption of peaceful means to settle disputes. The newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that based on its firm belief in resolving disputes by peaceful means, Qatar, as a benevolent power, continues to enhance its effective participation in multilateral, international action to settle disputes and conflicts in order to achieve peace, security, stability and development for the benefit of the people of the world.
