Qatar Participates in 44th Session of World Heritage Committee

Doha, July 22 (QNA) - The State of Qatar has participated in the work of the 44th session of the World Heritage Committee, held in China, via video conference technology, and which will continue until July 31. The State of Qatar was represented by HE Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, (UNESCO) Dr. Nasser bin Hamad Al Hanzab, the Director of International Cooperation at the Qatar Museums Authority Dr. Fatima Al-Sulaiti, and the Head of Antiquities Department at Qatar Museums Faisal Al-Naimi. The State of Qatar expressed its support for the efforts of the World Heritage Center at UNESCO and its member states in the protection of world heritage, through the mechanisms of the 1972 World Heritage Convention and the List of World Heritage in Danger, especially cultural heritage sites in the Arab region. HE Permanent Representative to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, (UNESCO) also noted the real danger facing the Arab cultural heritage in the Arab region, due to military conflicts and natural disasters.
