Planning and Statistics Authority to Organize Workshop on Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey

Doha, July 25 (QNA) - The Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA) will hold a four-day workshop on the design of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS6), in cooperation with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and with the participation of a number of specialists in the ministries and government institutions in the country. The survey aims to collect data on the main indicators that are used to assess the situation of children and women, as it is one of the main data sources for issues such as child protection, maternal and child health, early childhood education, and child nutrition. The agenda of the workshop includes several axes, the most important of which are introducing participants to the objectives of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey and its importance in providing data on the well-being of children and women, reviewing questionnaire forms and their content, reviewing questionnaires and guidelines used, and identifying priority variables for the concerned authorities in the country. The participants also learn about the importance of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey, its role in monitoring progress towards achieving the sustainable development goals and national goals, and identifying the needs of the partners for data related to the survey. This project is a major initiative within the framework of the joint cooperation program between the State of Qatar and UNICEF to develop data on indicators of the sustainable development goals, and other national and international commitments, and to provide data for monitoring and following up on the situation of children and women in the State of Qatar. This is the PSA's second experience in implementing this survey, as it had conducted it in the country in 2012 in cooperation with UNICEF. (QNA)
