Al-Sharq, Al-Raya Commend Qatar's Global Relief Efforts

Doha, August 09 (QNA) - Al-Sharq and Al-Raya newspapers hailed in their editorials Monday the State of Qatar's efforts to provide relief to countries in the face of disasters and epidemics, underlining that Qatar has become the focus of the world's attention for its pioneering initiatives aimed at spreading goodness, peace and love. The two Qatari dailies said that the Qatari humanitarian initiatives reached the weak, needy and the most marginalized groups in all continents of the world without distinction between religion, color or race. For its part, Al-Sharq affirmed that the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to send an equipped team from the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and a team from the Civil Defense of the Ministry of Interior to participate in search and rescue operations due to fires in the Hellenic Republic, came within the framework of the State's permanent response to international disasters and calls, and based on the State's belief that human solidarity is a lifeline to save humanity from disasters and crises. The paper stated that these directives are the second in less than a week, as the State of Qatar had sent last week a team from the Search and Rescue Group to Turkey to participate in the firefighting and search and rescue operations, as well as providing relief and medical aid to those injured in the affected areas. The newspaper pointed out that the Qatari Search and Rescue team of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) includes national cadres with great experience, qualification and advanced training, specialized in all fields and specializations of search and rescue. The operations of the Qatari Search and Rescue team, which participated in dozens of international missions, were highly efficient such as its participation in the explosion of the Port of Beirut and the earthquakes of Pakistan, Indonesia, Haiti, Chile and others, the paper said. In conclusion, Al-Sharq underlined that the role played by the Search and Rescue team in responding to calls in times of crises and natural disasters, is an extension of the State of Qatar's contributions in humanitarian work under the wise leadership. In turn, Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that the State of Qatar has always stood with brothers and friends around the world in the face of disasters and adversities that beset them. The paper pointed out that in implementation of the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, an equipped team from the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and a team from the Civil Defense of the Ministry of Interior headed yesterday to participate in search and rescue operations due to fires in the Hellenic Republic, which is currently suffering from the worst natural disaster in its modern history, as a result of wildfires for more than 11 days. The daily stressed that Qatar believes in international and humanitarian cooperation based on the principle of solidarity in the face of disasters and adversities, noting that the Qatari humanitarian initiatives reached all continents of the world and helped the needy and the most marginalized groups without distinction between religion, color or race. The paper underlined that all people are partners in humanity, noting in this regard that Education Above All Foundation (EAA) and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, have extended their partnership to launch integrated immunization projects in Ethiopia and Kenya, supported by Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD). The paper said that in conjunction with EAA's Educate A Child (EAC) program and its ongoing education project with Save the Children Korea (SCK), the initiative in Ethiopia aims to support the country's overarching target of 90 percent immunization coverage at the national level and at least 80 percent in each of the 11 targeted districts in the host community and three refugee camps in the Gambella Regional State of Ethiopia. The paper added that a similar immunization project will be implemented in Kenya, which intersects with EAA's ongoing education project with UNICEF, in 16 arid and semi-arid land (ASAL) counties. The Qatari daily affirmed that international solidarity in the face of disasters and pandemics has become an urgent global necessity, noting that Qatar always extends helping hand to brothers and friends around the world without delay. The State of Qatar, the paper said, has become a beacon for humanitarian and relief action in the world, where millions benefit from the humanitarian and charitable initiatives launched by Qatar, which has also become the focus of world's attention for its pioneering initiatives aimed at spreading goodness, peace and love. In conclusion, Al-Raya emphasised that Qatar's efforts in the field of humanitarian support have been praised and appreciated by the United Nations, and its initiatives have become a model to be emulated at the global level.
