Al-Raya Hails Qatar's Efforts to Establish Peace, Development in Darfur

Doha, August 10 (QNA) - Al-Raya newspaper in its editorial Tuesday hailed the role played by the State of Qatar in achieving the stability and development of Darfur through the Doha Peace Agreement, based on a firm position in order to support the security and stability of brotherly Sudan. In this regard, the newspaper pointed out that the Governor of Darfur Region and Leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) Mini Arko Minawi hailed the role played by the State of Qatar in achieving the stability and development of Darfur, as it has provided a lot in the fields of establishing model villages and services projects, maintaining schools, establishing various institutions and supporting fields of human development, noting that it also provided clear support in the framework of the implementation of the Doha Peace Agreement in the region. Al-Raya said that the Qatari position on supporting the security, stability, and peace of brotherly Sudan is firm and solid, and stems from Doha's wise and effective diplomacy that believes in the necessity of supporting Arab and Islamic peoples in order to achieve peace, security, and comprehensive development. The newspaper added that Sudan and its people have a great place in the hearts of Qataris, and the Qatari development projects in Sudan and Darfur in particular translate that position on the ground, pointing out that these projects have a humanitarian dimension aimed at achieving the social peace and economic prosperity of the people of the region. The paper affirmed that Darfur today is moving steadily towards greater stability and development, and that Qatar will not abandon the region and its people, and will remain the sponsor of peace and development, and will continue its approach in support of the security and stability of the region and the whole of Sudan. The paper underlined the continuous Qatari support for establishing security and stability in Sudan has not stopped, as Qatar has always been on the side of Sudan and its people, and has had white hands in establishing the foundations of peace in the Darfur region after years of fighting. The Doha Peace Agreement in Darfur, the paper said, constituted a historical pivotal point in the life of the Sudanese people in the region, which has suffered for years the scourge of war and fighting until Doha came and established a comprehensive agreement that guarantees peaceful coexistence and advances the development and stability wheel for the benefit of the brotherly Sudanese people in the region. All Sudanese parties witnessed the integrity of the Qatari role and its sincere desire to end the conflict and establish peace, the paper added. Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the State of Qatar is taking a clear path and approach in supporting a peaceful solution to Sudan's current challenges, without any special agendas to achieve the aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace and renaissance, because its goal is clear and explicit, which is to support a peaceful solution to Sudan's challenges.
