Qatar National Football Team Continues Preparations to Face Serbia and Portugal in European World Cup 2022 Qatar Qualifiers
Budapest, August 29 (QNA) - Reigning Asian champions Qatar are set for two headline fixtures as they host Serbia on September 1 and Portugal on September 4 and respectively in the European preparations for the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the Nagyerdei Stadion in the Hungarian city of Debrecen.
The Qatari team continues heavy preparation to for the upcoming confrontations to continue their great run in the Qualifiers.
The 20,000-capacity venue saw the maroons amass a tally of seven points out of a possible nine in the opening three rounds of Group A of the European section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification against Luxembourg, Azerbaijan and the Republic of Ireland.
National football team coach, Felix Sanchez, had announced earlier the final list of players, which he will participate in in the next stage of the European qualifiers.
Sanchez refused to make any changes to the list he had chosen for his current camp in Austria, and kept all the players with him. The Qatar Football Association has announced today that striker Mohammed Muntari will miss out on the qualifiers because of a injury.
The list included 31 players: Saad Al-Sheeb, Mishaal Barshim, Mahmoud Abu Nada, Youssef Hassan, Salah Zakaria, Pedro, Abdul Karim Hassan, Tariq Salman, Ahmed Suhail, Musab Khader, Bassam Al-Rawi, Hammam Al-Amin, Khuki Boualem, Mohamed Waad, Assem Madbo. Karim Boudiaf, Ismail Mohamed, Abdullah Al-Ahraq, Abdullah Marafieh, Abdulaziz Hatem, Jassem Jaber, Akram Afif, Hassan Al-Haydos, Khaled Mohamed, Sultan Al-Buraik, Ali Asad, Ahmed Moeen, Youssef Abdel Razzaq, Al-Moez Ali, Mohamed Muntari and Ahmed Alaa.
Qatar play their home fixtures on European soil to facilitate shorter travel times for their group opponents. As the FIFA World Cup 2022 host nation, Qatar has already qualified for the tournament.
The Asian champions join Group A alongside UEFA Euro 2016 winners Portugal, Serbia, Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, and Azerbaijan.(QNA)
