Doha Hosts Fifth Round of Swimming World Cup Next Month

Doha, September 08 (QNA) - The Qatar Swimming Association has started preparations to organize the fifth round of the 2021 Swimming World Cup, from Oct. 21 to 23, at the Hamad Aquatic Sports Complex. The first two rounds of the tournament, which were scheduled in China and Singapore last month, have been canceled, with the third round to be held in Berlin from Oct. 1 to 3, the fourth in Budapest from Oct. 7 to 9, and the fifth round in Doha from Oct. 21 to 23, and the sixth round in Kazan from Oct. 28 to 30. The four rounds will be held in the short course (25 meters), as it will qualify for the World Championships in short course swimming in its fifteenth edition scheduled in the UAE capital Abu Dhabi in the month of December. The World Swimming Championships last year 2020, was canceled, in order to ensure the safety of athletes in light of the pandemic of the emerging Corona virus (COVID-19). It is noteworthy that Doha has hosted one of the World Swimming Championships annually since 2012, and also hosted the 12th World Swimming Championships in the short course that was held in 2014, and witnessed the breaking of 23 world records, and this is the largest number ever recorded in the FINA championships For short distances (25 meters), it will also host the World Aquatics Championships scheduled for 2023.
