EU Special Representative for Central Asia Terhi Hakala visiting Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Sept. 9, 2021. / Kabar /. European Union (EU) Special Representative for Central Asia, Ambassador Terhi Hakala, has arrived in Kyrgyzstan on Thursday. This is her first visit to the country after taking office on July 1, 2021, the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic reported. During the two-day visit, Terhi Hakala will hold meetings with the leadership of Kyrgyzstan, including First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Aziz Aaliev, Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Taalatbek Masadykov and Ombudsman Tokon Mamytov. The sides plan to discuss cooperation between the EU and the Kyrgyz Republic, namely the upcoming events in the framework of political dialogue and development cooperation, as well as the current political processes in the Kyrgyz Republic, including the upcoming parliamentary elections. In addition, the ssues of regional cooperation between the EU and Central Asia will be discussed, in particular, upcoming events - the Civil Society Forum and the Economic Forum. The sides, will exchange views on developments in the region and the situation in Afghanistan. In addition to bilateral meetings, Ambassador Terhi Hakala will meet with the diplomatic community, including the ambassadors of the EU member states.
