International Council of News Agencies Holds Meeting in Lebanon

Beirut, May 15, SPA--The International Council of News Agencies held
its 2nd meeting in Beirut today at an invitation of Secretariat
General of Federation of Arab News Agencies.

The meeting was attended by Acting Director General of Saudi
Press Agency (SPA), Vice-President of Federation of Arab News
Agencies Abdullah bin Fahd Al-Hussein, and directors of Arab News
Agencies, the members of the Secretariat's Commission.
The meeting discussed a number of topics including following
up the implementation of the decisions and recommendations adopted by
the 2nd International Conference of News Agencies held in the Spanish
city of Estepona in 2007 as well as studying issues relating to the
news coverage of world events by news agencies.
The meeting also reviewed preparations for convening the 3rd
International Conference of the Council in Buenos Aires in Argentina
in 2011 and the most important issues to be discussed at the
Conference.

Along with the Arab News Agencies, the members of the Secretariat's
Commission, participants included news agencies of Australia, Spain,
France, Russia, Italy, India, Argentina, Reuters, the Associated
Press, Argentine Telam and Nigerian NAN as well as organizations of
the European Union of news agencies and organization of news agencies
of South-East Asia and Pacific.
It is noteworthy that the International Council of News
Agencies includes 22 members from European and international news
agencies and regional organizations of news agencies representing all
geographical regions in the world.
