NIHR committee visits BIECC

Manama, Sept. 14 (BNA): The committee in charge of visiting detention places and facilities at the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) paid a field visit to Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC) to monitor the level of health services provided for all as part of the efforts to combat the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The committee met with members of the National Taskforce for Combating the Coronavirus (Covid-19) and held meetings with the medical teams to get informed about adherence to the precautionary measures and the extent of respect of the human rights standards stipulated by the international laws and conventions during crises.
The committee also met a number of vaccinated people to learn about their opinion about the procedures taken and the healthcare provided for them when taking the shots.
The visit is within the framework of the monitoring role of NIHR and its plan to follow up on the implementation of the human rights criteria when applying the procedures of check-up, isolation and quarantine during the pandemic. The committee is also in charge of preparing reports and recommendations related to human rights and sending them to the competent authorities.
