SCW Secretary-General hails recognition of women’s frontline work

Manama, Sep. 15 (BNA): The Women Support Centre, an offshoot of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), has been awarded the HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Award for Voluntary Work. SCW Secretary-General Hala Al Ansari hailed the recognition which, she said, acknowledges Bahraini women’s pivotal role among the frontliners combating the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). In a statement, Al Ansari said that the prize would be an incentive for Bahraini women working among frontliners to exert more efforts in serving the nation. She congratulated the recipients of the 1th edition of the award, commending HH Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa’s speech during the ceremony, in which he praised the dedicated efforts of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King an SCW President. She lauded the launch of a new award category to recognize efforts aimed to integrate women’s needs among the voluntary work to combat the pandemic. The ceremony which was held today remotely via ZOOM platform was attended also by SCW Assistant Secretary General Shaikha Dina bint Rashid Al Khalifa and Women Support Centre director Abeer Daham.
