King Hamad Global Centre Chairman attends 2021 G20 Interfaith Forum

Bologna, Sep. 15 (BNA): King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Co-existence board of trustees’ chairman Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, took part in the 2021 G20 Interfaith Forum in Bologna, Italy. Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa attended the opening ceremony and the plenary discussion sessions which highlighted the role of religion in mitigating COVID-19 repercussions, relief aid to pandemic victims in poor countries, powervy, inequality, peacemaking and other key issues. He attended the EU session which focused on the relation between policy making and religious values, particularly tolerance, stressing the necessity of including religious practices in building a diversified, open and peaceful society. He also took part in a religious ceremony held in the "Complex of the Seven Churches", whose construction dates back to the Middle Ages in Bologna. The event included special sessions to review the values and principles of different religions and beliefs, prayers and readings, which help encourage dialogue and reach common grounds of human understanding. He also visited the prestigious University of Bologna to discuss areas of cooperation and understanding between the King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence, as well as ways to benefit from the initiatives and programs offered by the center in the university's curricula and academic programs.
