Foreign Minister meets Sri Lankan counterpart

New York, Sept. 24 (BNA): Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani met his Sri-Lankan counterpart Prof. Gamini Lakshman Peiris. An agreement on mutual exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, special and official passports was signed between the two countries during the meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 76). Al Zayani said the agreement reflects the keen interest of the two countries to move forward in strengthening the frameworks of bilateral cooperation and coordination. He voiced appreciation of the growing bilateral ties at all levels and the contributions of the Sri Lankan community to the development process in Bahrain. G.L. Peiris praised the level of friendship between the two countries and expressed his country's aspiration to boost bilateral cooperation. The two ministers also discussed regional and international topics and issues of common interest.
