Climate Special Envoy meets IAEA Deputy Director General

Vienna, Sept. 26 (BNA): Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and CEO of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE) Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Daina met Hua Liu Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, on the sideline of his participation in the 65th session of the General Conference IAEA. Dr. Bin Daina commended the fruitful cooperation between Bahrain and the Technical Cooperation Department of IAEA, praising the agency’s efforts to coordinate with the Kingdom in launching a package of technical projects during this year in several areas, including addressing climate change issues in the field of energy, health and environmental preservation, which represents the major role that IAEA plays in promoting the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in the region. The special envoy said that Bahrain's interest in strengthening cooperation with the Technical Cooperation Department comes in line with the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030 and sustainable development goals, stressing the need to push these relations towards broader horizons, which contributes to supporting the use of nuclear science and technology to meet the main priorities in the field of sustainable development. The deputy director general stressed IAEA’s pride in the extent of relations and cooperation with Bahrain, which contributes to securing a nuclear-weapon-free zone and mass destruction, noting its development at all levels, wishing the Kingdom continued progress.
