Bahrain participates in CMEC discussion on Middle East challenges, opportunities

London, Apr. 6 (BNA): Bahrain's Ambassador to the UK Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa participated in a conference organized by the Conservative Party Council for Middle East Affairs (CMEC).
The “Global Britain and the Middle East: Challenges and Opportunities” conference was held on the sidelines of the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester.
The conference, moderated by CMEC Director Charlotte Leslie, was attended by Member of the House of Lords Emma Nicholson, Tunisia's Ambassador to the UK Nabil Ben Khedher, Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the UK HRH Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud, the UAE Ambassador to the UK Mansoor Abulhoul, and a group of parliamentarians and businessmen.
In his speech, Shaikh Fawaz stressed the depth of the relations between the GCC countries and the UK in all fields, looking forward to achieving wider partnerships with international partners.
He pointed out to the directives of HM King Hamad that stress Bahrain's ambitious aspirations to achieve competitiveness, innovation, flexibility and development.
The strategic partnership between the GCC countries and the UK is
becoming increasingly important in the wake of the unstable conditions around the world, he added.
The conference also addressed the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) and Bahrain's aspirations regarding its outcomes and areas of cooperation on renewable energy sources and environmentally friendly technologies.
The developments in relations between Bahrain and Israel and the signing of the Declaration of Support for Peace and the Abraham Accords and their impact on peace, security and prosperity in the Middle East region were also discussed.
