Health Minister marks Breast Cancer Awareness month

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh noted the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness in October as its the month to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause. The minister said that the ministry’s programs, with the directives and support of the government, has always worked on spreading awareness of the disease and possible prevention methods. She explained that a healthy lifestyle such as diet and physical activity can reduce the risk, taking into account the genetic factor, affirming the importance of early detection tests or self-examination for the target age group to reduce the risk and ease the recovery process. She also indicated the ministry’s keenness to work on organizing many events, activities and awareness campaigns in cooperation with various government and private agencies to raise awareness of breast cancer that will be held in coordination with the Public Health Directorate.
