Speaker receives Lord George Robertson

Manama, Oct. 6 (BNA): Speaker Fawzia bint Abdullah Zainal received Lord George Robertson. The meeting discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in various fields. The speaker affirmed that Bahrain is keen to support joint relations with the United Kingdom at all levels, especially the parliamentary field, and to open wider horizons for cooperation, in light of the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. She stressed that the Kingdom, in light of the role of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is deeply interested in the wellbeing and success of its people who are the real asset. Lord Robertson praised the friendly and historical relations between the two kingdoms and the cooperation level it witnessed at all levels. He noted the progress and development reached by Bahrain in various fields, especially on issues of women and human rights, stressing his keenness and the British House of Lords to support the strengthening of joint parliamentary cooperation.
