EARTHQUAKE HITS NORTHWEST TERNATE
Jakarta, May 18 (ANTARA) - An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter Scale hit the northwestern part of Ternate island, North Maluku, or southeast of Melanguane, North Sulawesi, on Monday morning, at 6.23 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The quake's epicenter was located at 2.27 degrees northern latitude, and 126.82 degrees eastern longitude, at a depth of 10 km below sea level, according to the national meteorological and geophysics office.
The temblor was 176 km northwest of Ternate (North Maluku) or 192 km southeast of Melonguane (North Sulawesi) and 236 km northeast of Manado (North Sulawesi). ***
