Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Announces New Racing Season to Kick Off Wednesday

Doha, October 11 (QNA) - Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) announced that the new season will kick off Wednesday at Al Rayyan racecourse, stressing the keenness to organize an ideal season that is full of strong and exciting races to enhance the position of the Qatar in the world of horse racing.
Equestrian races contribute to achieving the vision and strategy of this club in bringing the races to the desired level and appropriate to the amount of attention paid by officials at the level of wise leadership to equestrian activities in general and horse racing in particular, and to maintaining the wonderful reputation enjoyed by the horse races that are held in Qatar in terms of organizing or technical level as well as following international standards and conditions specified for general racing systems.
The first race for the Al Ghariya cup will be held on Wednesday, at Al Rayyan sand track and on the following day the second race for the Hamala cup will be held on Al Rayyan grass track, QREC issued two separate programmes one for the Al Rayyan racecourse including 55 race days and the other for the Al Uqda racecourses including 15 race days, this is after adding the Al Uqda track to the racing program based on the successful trials held on it last season and ensuring its readiness to hold races and the availability of all necessary logistical matters making a total of 70 race days in the 2021/2022 season, for an 8-month period, starting from Wednesday this year until the last race which will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, which is an unprecedented number throughout the history of QREC as it represents a quantum leap in the number of race days per season.
Chairman of the QREC, Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi, explained that the preparation for the new season began immediately after the end of the last season, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the officials in the management of races for their continuous efforts since the end of last season to prepare the new season program in a manner that embodies the club's vision and strategy in the development and promotion of races and interest in international races, including horses from abroad.
"Our concepts have been based on the numbers and categories horses as well as the requirements and suggestions of owners and trainers, we have also been keen to complete the programme as soon as possible in order to give them the opportunity to prepare for the next season and set their goals and requirements accurately, we look forward to a successful new season for all parties, of course the HH the Amir Sword Festival gets the most attention, especially as it is the most important event organized in the club every season, and as usual the festival will be held this year for 3 days at Al Rayyan grass track during the month of February". Al Mohannadi added.
For his part, acting CEO of the QREC, Badr Muhammad Al Darwish, praised the racing program which came to reflect the club's management's keenness on permanent development and achieving the general interest of all.
"We expect that this season will witness more challenges among the various participants who undoubtedly have done well to prepare their horses for major events which reinforces our expectations that it will be a successful season at all levels as an extension of the great success achieved during the international races that were sponsored by the club such as the Qatar Goodwood Festival in Britain, and finally the Qatar Prix De LArc De Triomphe in France a few days ago".
