Champassak province: economic development improved

(KPL) The economic development of the southern province of Champassak in the first six months of 2008-2009 fiscal year has generally increased in both import and export sectors with 22% for import and 36% for export of annual plan.
According to the report from the Industry and Commerce Service of Champassak province, the value of the import sector in the first six month of 2008-2009 has reached US$ 30.82 million, represented 22% of annual plan and increased 50% compared to the same period of the last year while value from the export sector has arrived US$ 14.75 million, increased 20% compared to the figure of last year.
These included US$11.18 million from petroleum products which covered 75% of the total income; and 25% from agricultural and other products.
The expectation value for import and export sector in the whole year is around US$ 109.11 million, 52% of which will from import sector.
The report also disclosed that the value from export sector has implemented about US$ 16,13 million, reached 36% against annual plan and increased 33% compared to the figure in the same period of last year.
The expectation income from the export sector for the whole year is about US$ 46.23 million, US$ 2.5 million of which will from wood products, and US$ 3.977 million will from contract
farming.
