Number of tourists is on rise in Champassack
(KPL) More than 150, 000 tourist visited southernmost province of Champassak province in the firs six month of this fiscal year, said Deputy Head of Tourism Service of Champassack.
Presently many country worldwide are suffering from global financial crisis and economic downturn but the tourism in Champassak province was risen by 80%.
In the first six month of 2008-2009, more than 150, 000 tourists were reported to visit Champassack province to compared the same previous it increased 80% or equals to 60 percent of annual plan.
Champassack province welcomed large number of tourists during the Lao New Year mid-April, most tourists came from Thailand and Cambodia.
The provinces believed that there will be more tourists head to Champassak province in the future.
In order to cope with a large number of arrivals in the future, Champassack province plans to improve the hotels and guesthouses.
