Foreign Minister takes part in conference on Libya

Tripoli, Oct.21 (BNA): Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, has conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and wishes for success to the Ministerial Conference on the initiative to support stability in Libya, and His Majesty’s affirmation of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s support To the unremitting endeavors and efforts made by the State of Libya to lay the foundations of security, stability and peace in all parts of Libya for the good of its brotherly people.
This came as he took part in the International ministerial conference for Libya Stability Initiative, held today in Tripoli, in the presence of Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity in the State of Libya Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba.
The sessions of the conference were co-chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the State of Libya, Dr. Najla Al-Mangoush, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs in the State of Kuwait, President of the current session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level, Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al- Mohammed Al-Sabah, and UNUnder-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Mrs. Rosemary DiCarlo.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs valued the brotherly State of Libya and its generous leadership for this kind initiative to hold this important international conference to support the stability of Libya.
He expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s appreciation for all efforts being made to achieve a political settlement to the Libyan crisis that meets the aspirations of its honorable people for peace, stability, development and prosperity and ends the decade-long sufferings.
Dr. Zayani praised the Libyan government’s continuous efforts to address a number of thorny issues and affirms its commitment to implementing the roadmap of the political dialogue forum, the outcomes of the Berlin 1 and Berlin 2 processes, and the relevant international resolutions.
He also thanked the United Nations, the countries neighboring Libya, and the countries concerned with the Libyan crisis for their efforts, which demonstrated that they are keen on the return of security, peace and stability to this brotherly country.
He called for continuing this approach and provide full support for the stability of Libya, noting that the situation in the brotherly country of Libya represents a great challenge for all sides, as it is going through a fateful stage, either taking it to a democratic transformation and lasting stability, prosperity and development, or leading it to a dark fate with known consequences and results that no one wishes to happen.
The Foreign Minister said the Libyan crisis in all its dimensions has imposed political, security and economic challenges on this brotherly country, and increased the suffering of its honorable people and that it is high time to work out a comprehensive political solution capable of ending the conflict and preserving Libya’s sovereignty, independence and stability.
The solution, he added, would lead to ending the presence of all foreign forces and mercenaries in the Libyan territory, and the holding of presidential and parliamentary elections on the scheduled date, based on the outcomes of the Berlin Conferences 1 and 2, and Security Council resolutions 2570, 2571.
Dr. Zayani called on the international community and countries neighboring Libya and European countries on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea to Provide all support to the Libyan government to be able to confront the ongoing illicit influx of illegal immigrants who pose a threat not only to Libya but also to Libya’s neighboring countries.
He said that the brotherly Libyan people with all factions and political components are required to unite, show a spirit of responsibility and give priority to the country’s supreme interest, in order to reach a political solution and realize aspirations for peace, security, stability and prosperity.
