Qatar's Nasser Al Attiyah Leads Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge

Abu Dhabi, November 08 (QNA) - Qatari driver Nasser bin Saleh Al Attiyah topped the provisional general arrangement for the 30th edition of the Abu Dhabi Desert Rally, the fifth and penultimate round of the 2021 World Cup for Cross Country Rallies, which will continue until next Thursday, after winning the first special stage title. Al Attiyah, accompanied by his French navigator, Mathieu Baumel, in a Toyota Hilux, completed the stage with a total distance of 262.02 kilometers, with a time of 3.22.07 hours, three minutes behind his nearest competitor, Polish driver Jakob Przygonski, the second with a time of 3.25.07 hours, while Argentine driver Lucio Alvarez, came in third with a time of 3.29.18 hours. Al Attiyah expressed his happiness with the provisional general ranking of the Abu Dhabi Desert Rally after winning today the title of the difficult first stage, which was characterized by rough terrain and gravel ground in most of the tracks, as well as the difficulty of navigation. The participants in the Abu Dhabi Desert Rally will compete Monday in the second special stage (ADNOC), which has a distance of 333.43 km. (QNA)
