US$5.36 Million Potential Sales Seen From MATRADE's Mission To Myanmar

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) export acceleration mission (EAM) to Yangon, Myanmar is expected to generate sales of US$5.36 million (RM22.4 million). MATRADE has partnered with the Malaysia Service Providers Confederation (MSPC) to organise EAM as part of the continued efforts to promote Malaysian capabilities in the professional services sector. MATRADE’s construction and business services section director Idzham Abdul Hamid said Myanmar is an interesting and vibrant market that offers huge business opportunities for Malaysian construction-related and professional services as the country progresses towards sustainable urban development. “Participating Malaysian companies have a unique value proposition to offer to the potential Myanmar partners. Among the main areas would be on green smart cities, integrated building design and eco-friendly project management,” he said in a statement Wednesday. He also said the mission provided an opportunity for Malaysian companies to expand their footprint in the market and build business partnerships with the Myanmar business community amid uncertainty in the business environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hybrid EAM which took place from Nov 9 until Nov 11, brought onboard 11 Malaysian service providers in the areas of sustainable architecture in housing and urban planning, building information modelling, engineering solutions, facilities management, geotechnical engineering, precast concrete construction solutions, erosion control and bio-engineering products, road safety consultancy, scaffolding and formwork solutions. A total of 36 online business meetings, 11 interactive pitching sessions, two virtual site visits and a technical webinar were conducted during the three-day event. The positive outcome of this mission signalled good cooperation in strengthening trade and economic ties between both countries. -- BERNAMA
