FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021: AFC President Arrives in Doha

Doha, November 30 (QNA) - Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President, First Vice President of the International Football Association (FIFA), Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, arrived in Doha to attend the opening of the tenth edition of the FIFA Arab Cup (Qatar 2021), which begins Tuesday and continues until Dec.18. with the participation of 16 teams. Sheikh Salman stressed that the Arab Cup is a distinct football occasion that allows Arab teams to compete in a positive atmosphere under the auspices of FIFA, which was keen to adopt the competition. The AFC President indicated that the tournament is an important step to highlight Qatar's preparations to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar, and raise its readiness to host the first World Cup in the Middle East. He explained that holding the Arab Cup competitions on the stadiums designated to host the World Cup constitutes a rich opportunity to test the organizational processes and determine the readiness of the modern stadiums built by Qatar. Sheikh Salman wished all Arab teams success in the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, and to reflect the bright image of Arab football in this distinguished international event. (QNA)
