Yemen, WB discuss means to develop fisheries sectors
SANA'A, May 20 (Saba)- Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammed Shamlan
discussed on Wednesday with the World Bank's officer of Rural Water
and Environment Development in Sana'a, Naji Abu-Hatem aspects to
develop the fisheries sector in Yemen.
In the meeting, they reviewed activities of the projects financed by
WB, topped by the 5th fish project with a total cost of $32 million.
Shamlan talked over Yemen potentials of fisheries wealth in the
regional waters, affirming the necessity to support Yemeni efforts
by WB in completing the infrastructure of the fisheries sector.
He said that the 5th fish project is one of the most important and
largest projects achieved in cooperation with WB and EU to support
investment programs of fisheries development in Yemen.
He noted the project targets mainly enhancing infrastructure of the
sector, topped by rehabilitation of fish ports and establishing
fisheries foundations.
