Foreign Minister chairs committee meeting

Manama, Dec. 8 (BNA): Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, chaired the meeting of the Higher Coordinating Committee for Human Rights, which was held virtually today.
The remote session was also attended by members of the Committee, National Institute for Human Rights, and a number of experts from civil society organisations.
Dr Al Zayani welcomed the members of the committee and participants, adding that Bahrain is steadily moving forward in the process of building and developing the national human rights system.
He extended his utmost thanks and gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Ministerfor providing the best human rights environment for citizens and residents in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He praised the wise leadership’s approval of the ministry’s strategic plan which extends to the year 2030, that includes the National Human Rights Plan (2022-2026).
Dr. Al-Zayani expressed his thanks to Bahrain’s Ambassador-Designate to Belgium, former Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Abdullah bin Faisal bin Jabr Al-Doseri, for his efforts throughout his membership in the Committee, wishing him success in his diplomatic duties.
He also thanked the members of the Committee for their sincere efforts and appreciated contributions in promoting the role and work of the Committee.
The Committee discussed a number of topics on its agenda, including a brief presentation on the national human rights plan and the progress of work in preparing the plan.
The committee also discussed the dates for discussing a number of national reports submitted to treaty committees, in addition to referring to the International Day of Human Rights.
The Committee has taken the appropriate decisions regarding the topics and reports on its agenda.
