EMIR OF QATAR VISITS SINGAPORE

SINGAPORE, May 21 (Bernama) -- Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Khalifa Al-Thani
who just ended his state visit to Malaysia arrived in Singapore Wednesday for a
state visit to the island republic.

The Emir of Qatar, who is accompanied by his consort Sheikha Mozah Nasser
Al-Missned and an official delegation attended the welcoming ceremony at the
Istana here.

Sheikh Hamad later called on Singapore President S. R. Nathan at the same
venue.

The Emir of Qatar also received a courtesy call by Prime Minister Lee Hsien
Loong.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry said Sheikh Hamad and the city-state leaders
exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including bilateral cooperation and
regional developments, and welcomed the healthy exchange of high-level visits
that reaffirmed the warm relations between Qatar and Singapore.

The Emir of Qatar and entourage later attended a state banquet hosted by the
Singapore president at the Istana.
