MALAYSIAN PM TO VISIT SINGAPORE THURSDAY, CHINA ON JUNE 2
PUTRAJAYA, May 21 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Najib Razak will begin a
two-day visit to Singapore Thursday and visit China from June 2 to 5, Foreign
Minister Anifah Aman said Wednesday.
He said that in Singapore, Najib would meet with Singapore Prime Minister
Lee Hsien Loong and Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.
Najib would be accompanied by his wife, Rosmah Mansor, Transport Minister
Ong Tee Keat, International Trade and Industry Minister Mustapa Mohamed and
Deputy Tourism Minister Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib on the trip to
Singapore.
Anifah told a news conference at Wisma Putra (Foreign Ministry) that he
would also accompany Najib on the visit to the republic.
Asked whether the proposed "crooked" bridge linking Malaysia and Singapore
would be discussed during the visit, Anifah said that would depend on the
subject of the talks.
"It may or may not be discussed. It depends on them (the leaders)," he said.
On Najib's visit to China, Anifah said it was aimed at consolidating
bilateral relations and it coincided with the 35th anniversary of the
establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"The visit will be used to strengthen bilateral relations, especially from
the aspect of trade and in exploring cooperation in other sectors including
education," he said.
