Bahrain attends CIFG meeting remotely

Manama, Dec. 9 (BNA): A Bahraini delegation, headed by Foreign Ministry’s Chief of Strategic Affairs Ambassador Nancy Abdulla Jamal, virtually participated in the 15th meeting of the Counter ISIS Finance Group (CIFG) of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.
Specialists working on dossiers related to combating financing terrorists from Financial Investigation Directorate at the Ministry of Interior have also taken part in the virtual session
During the meeting, Bahrain stressed the importance of combating the financing of terrorism, extremism, and violence, and addressing all forms of financing used by terrorist organizations and their financiers.
It highlighted the need to dry up their sources of financing, stemming from the most important pillars of its foreign policy which is spreading a culture of peace across the world.
Bahrain also expressed its keenness to actively participate in various regional and international forums that would coordinate international efforts and exchange experiences, as well as follow up on compliance with established international obligations.
It stressed the need to take measures which would contribute to combating terrorism financing and drying up its sources of financing, believing in the importance of joint international action in combating and eliminating terrorism, extremism, and violence, and promoting peace and security in the region and the world at large.
The delegations participating in the meeting discussed several related topics and dossiers related to addressing ways to combat ISIS financing.
