Bahrain to host Gulf Red Crescent Societies Forum

Manama, Dec. 13 (BNA): Under the patronage of Ali bin Mohamed Murad, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, the Kingdom of Bahrain will host tomorrow the Gulf Red Crescent Societies Forum, with the participation of several representatives of these bodies and societies, as well as relief and humanitarian workers from inside and outside Bahrain. In his statement on this occasion, Murad welcomed the Bahraini guests participating in this forum, stressing that the Bahrain Red Crescent Society, Chairperson of the current session of the Gulf Red Crescent Societies and Bodies, will ensure to have all necessary preparations for its success. He affirmed that the forum is based on the recommendation of the last meeting of the Heads of the Gulf Red Crescent societies and bodies, which was held in Oman. Murad stressed that the second Gulf Forum for the Gulf Red Crescent Societies also represents an opportunity to highlight the progress of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the field of voluntary work, and to benefit from the experiences and expertise of the Bahrain Red Crescent Society. The first day of the second Gulf Forum will be devoted to the Gulf Red Crescent bodies and societies to present work papers on volunteer teams in crises and disasters, while the second day is devoted to setting up training and rehabilitation programmes for volunteers in each Gulf authority and society. It’s worth noting that at the conclusion of their fifteenth meeting, which was held at the Advisory Board of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), in Muscat, the Heads of the Red Crescent bodies and societies in the Gulf Cooperation Council approved the strategic plan for the next five years for the Red Crescent bodies and societies, including eight topics centred on humanitarian and relief work and development at the regional and international levels, cooperation with relevant regional and international organisations, voluntary work, policies, legislation, laws and regulations, in addition to the development of human resources, sources of funding, support, information, research, studies, information and awareness.
