WB funds six projects to help Dong Thap province
Dong Thap (VNA) – The World Bank has so far funded six projects to help the
Mekong delta province of Dong Thap improve education and infrastructure as
well as increase its preparedness against natural calamities and diseases.
A 22 billion VND project has built 85 new classrooms at 37 primary schools in Tan
Hong, Tam Nong and Thanh Binh districts.
Meanwhile, work is being accelerated to build a stone embankment with a total
length of 3.3 km along Tien river to protect 10,000 households along the river from
soil erosion.
Another project will add five new bridges to the rural road network in Hong Ngu
district.
The Hong Ngu, Cao Lanh and Chau Thanh districts are receiving WB assistance to
build up a community-based disaster risk management system. The WB is also
sponsoring Dong Thap’s efforts to strengthen local control capacity of bird flu
and flu in human along with a health care project.-Enditem
