Shura Chairman stresses Bahrain strides in human rights

Manama, Jan. 5 (BNA): Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh underscored Bahrain’s constant steps in the human rights field and respect of freedoms. He described the approach as the result of the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his reform project which is based on respect of human rights as a prerequisite for growth and development. The Shura Council Chairman was speaking as he received today the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, David McAllister, on the occasion of his visit to the kingdom. The meeting was attended by Shura Council First Deputy Chairman Jamal Mohammed Fakhro and members Abdulrahman Mohammed Jamshir, Nanci Dina Eyli Khedhouri, Dr. Abdulaziz Abul, and member of the Representatives Council Abdullah Al Dhawadi. The Shura Council Chairman affirmed that respect of human rights has become a national approach, stressing Bahrain’s success in managing the COVID-19 crisis and providing health services for citizens and residents on equal par. He praised the government’s strategies, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to boost democracy and human rights. He also underlined the royal support to Bahraini women, pointing out keenness of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) to promote equality and further empower Bahraini women. The Shura Council First Deputy Chairman, Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, reviewed the council’s missions and role in fostering human rights. For his part, the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman expressed appreciation for visiting the Kingdom of Bahrain, stressing the importance of joint cooperation in the human rights field.
