Bahrain human rights strides stressed

Manama, Jan. 6 (BNA): President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, received today Chairman of the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee David McAllister. He praised growing relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union (EU), stressing the importance of such visits in getting informed about development in the Kingdom of Bahrain in various areas. Al Derazi pointed out the kingdom’s strides in the human rights field since the launch of the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Both sides discussed issues of common interest and the role of NIHR in dealing with them to continue promoting the human rights march in the Kingdom of Bahrain. For his part, the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman commended the role of NIHR in protecting human rights in Bahrain, pointing out keenness of the EU on continuous cooperation with the kingdom regarding various regional and international issues.
