36th Qatar Open Golf Championship Kicks off Thursday

Doha, January 19 (QNA) - The 36th edition of Qatar Open Golf Championship will start on Thursday for three days at Doha Golf Club with participation of 108 players. The championship is one of the tournaments that give international rating points. The championship will be held with the participation of many players including first Qatari golf team players, Saleh Ali Al Kaabi, Ali Abdullah Al Shahrani, Abdul Rahman Al Shahrani, and Fahad Mir, in addition to the participation of some players of the Qatari junior team like Mubarak Al Kuwari. The championship will also witness the participation of many members of Qatar Golf Association, such as Abdulaziz Al Buainain, and players that have played in the championship for a long time, such as Mohammad Saeed Al Kuwari and Abdulaziz Al Bohindi, along with coaches Mike Elliott and Anwar Ali. The participants were divided into 36 groups, each comprising 3 players, and Qatari players will benefit greatly from participating in such international championships, in addition to their participation in local tournaments and weekly training. The winner of the championship qualifies to play in the next edition of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters 2022. For the second year in a row, the tournament will be held in exceptional circumstances due to the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. (QNA)
