Sheikh Joaan Honors Winners of Al Mazayen at Conclusion of Marmi 2022

Doha, January 29 (QNA) - The 13th Qatar International Falcon and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2022) concluded at Katara Cultural Village on Saturday evening. HE President of Qatar Olympic Committee Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani crowned the winners of Al Mazayen competition for falcons. HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani also inaugurated postage stamps bearing the image of "Al Mazayen" which was crowned in the previous edition of Marmi, in cooperation between the Organizing Committee of the Marmi Festival and the Arab Postal Stamp Museum in Katara. Marmi Festival is recognized as the most important festival of Al Gannas Association. The festival is held annually, and the association is keen to constantly develop it because of its importance in preserving the heritage of falconry in the State of Qatar. In a statement, General Manager of Katara Cultural Village Foundation Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti underlined the 13th Qatar International Falcon and Hunting Festival (Marmi 2022) succeeded in establishing its presence locally, regionally and internationally as one of the most important events that preserve the Qatari heritage. He added that the festival also succeeded in being one of the most important events that are held in Qatar with the aim of preserving its heritage and identity, noting that developing the festival every year gives a strong impetus to the event, such as adding new runs or introducing other types in Al Mazayen competition, which has its value in the Marmi Festival.
